What we collect
We collect only what you choose to send us and the minimum our server records in order to operate.
- Information you submit. When you use the contact form we receive your name, email address, an optional company name, the subject you selected and your message.
- Technical records. Our web server keeps standard access logs containing the requesting IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, and the browser's user-agent string.
We do not run advertising trackers, we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, and we do not build marketing profiles from visits to this site.
Why we use it
Contact-form information is used to read and answer your message, to verify and act on corrections, and to keep a record of correspondence about published material. Technical records are used to keep the site available, diagnose faults and identify abuse. Our lawful basis for both is our legitimate interest in operating and defending a published editorial site and in responding to people who contact us.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. If a strictly necessary session cookie is ever required for a specific feature, it will be used only for that feature and will not be used to track you between sites.
How long we keep it
Contact-form messages are retained for up to twenty-four months so that we can maintain a record of corrections and follow-up correspondence, then deleted. Server access logs are rotated and deleted on a much shorter cycle, typically within ninety days.
Who else sees it
Your information is handled by the people who operate this site. It is stored on infrastructure provided by our hosting supplier, who processes it only on our instructions. We disclose personal information to third parties only where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. We do not disclose it to suppliers, advertisers or data brokers.
Third-party content
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts and photographs are served from Unsplash. Requesting those files exposes your IP address and browser information to those providers, in the ordinary way that loading any third-party asset does. We do not send them any information you submit through this site.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict our use of it, and to complain to your data protection authority. To exercise any of these, write to [email protected] and describe your request. We may ask for enough information to be confident we are responding to the right person, and we will answer within the period required by applicable law.
Security
We keep the software behind this site patched, limit access to submitted messages to those who need it, and transmit pages over an encrypted connection. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, which is why we ask you not to send confidential commercial documents, contracts or pricing through the contact form.
Children
This is a business publication and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under sixteen.
Changes
If this notice changes materially we will update the date at the top of the page and, where the change is significant, note it on the page itself. Continued use of the site after a change means the current version applies.
